22 Thursday

Maybe running in 5 degrees Celcius temperature in a drizzle wasn’t the best idea. The next night, I felt a sudden throat irritation which bordered on pain by the following morning. That always meant one thing: a cold was sneaking up on me.

I had gotten up early this morning despite having only slept 4 hours because I had a C25K session to run. But I felt so fatigued and my throat hurt. I knew I had to take care or the virus would have me. So I took a Vitamin C tablet and went back to bed. Success! I only managed to sleep two more hours but I felt better and the throat stopped hurting.

23 Friday

What is it with ladybirds and curtains? I found one on our bedroom curtain this time. (The family of five are still living on the bathroom curtain.) I just read that the right thing to do is to put them outside but I feel bad exiling them!

Gratitude

I’m grateful for the rest day I was forced to take to fight a cold virus even though it ruins my C25K schedule!

Today I Learnt

British pork sausages used to be called Little Bags of Mystery because Victorians suspected the presence of horse meat. After WWI, fillers were used in them, causing them to hiss and pop when cooked, resulting in them being called bangers. I love Bangers, Beans & Mash, the song as well as the dish. Russell Brand is hilarious and the dish is easy to cook and tasty!

Piggyback

There has been no movement from the ladybirds in the bathroom since Oct 26 when Daddy Ted went for a day’s jaunt. The five are always on the same spot on the curtain in a cluster, most of the time facing each other in a circle as if they were petals around a flower. Tonight, though, I saw Mary (one of the babies) sitting on Ted, as if he were giving her a piggyback! How adorable is that?! When I went back to look an hour later, she was off his back and they were back in their regular cluster.

Couch to 5K

I have decided to do C25K, not out of any noble sense of purpose but because I had an empty space to fill in my habit tracker, lol. Nevertheless I shall feel proud that I took my first session today. It felt good afterwards!

Gratitude

I’m grateful for new toys to play with! Today’s post brought me 12 brush pens (more colours yay), 15 gelatos (something new for me to try) and 3 water brushes (also something new I hope I won’t be a complete mess at)!

Opposing Wishes

One of our big trees have turned beautifully red but all the rest remain green. There are some red ones in the lower garden but they’re small and can’t really be seen from my window. I said to Piers, “I wish we had more red trees and fewer evergreens.” His reply: “I wish all our trees were evergreens. Then I wouldn’t have so many leaves to rake!” I have no argument for that. Tsk. Beauty always has a price!

Gratitude

I’m grateful for the pretty colours of autumn in nature.

Piers

Today in Telegram:

Piers: Rich cancelled the TVR meetup.
Me: I didn’t know there was a TVR meetup.
Piers: Well, it’s just me and him. With our TVRs.
Me: You can’t call that a TVR meetup!!

Mini Win

I’m proud of myself for walking downstairs to get a glass of water instead of ignoring my thirst like usual. How sad are my victories, lol.

Runaway

The ladybird family are still there (ref. Oct 21) but today one of them is exploring the curtain. (I’ve not seen any of them move before.) I’ve given them names off the top of my head. Ted and Sue, the parents. Beth and Mary, the girls. Little Johnny is the one running about, the rascal.

The next night: Little Johnny’s missing! Now it’s a family of four! But later I found him in the bedroom near the curtain. It’s a long way from home! I made Piers put him back with his family in case he’s lost. At first he kept walking away but we kept trying and finally he settled down in the circle.

I wonder if he was lost or bored or… a runaway!

Expert Slacker

I woke up this morning after only 4.5 hours of sleep. Not wanting to waste time trying to get back to sleep, I spent the next 3 hours working on my bujo. After that it was time to “start” my day with physio and yoga.

I was so exhausted by then. Did physio and was about to prepare my mat when I suddenly remembered my knee wound. I can’t do yoga with a knee wound! Yesssss! Said my naughty, childish mind.

It’s only a teeny tiny wound but it does smart a bit so there’s a legit excuse to give yoga a miss, right? Of course, there are lots of poses I can do without getting on knees but it’s just easier to stay safe! LOL.

Gratitude

I’m grateful for fresh clean bedding (even though it’s always a pain to change the sheets). It always feels so good, though!

Ladybird Family

I have seen 2 ladybirds periodically on a spot on our bathroom curtains for a few weeks now. I only see them at night when the curtains are closed and I’m standing at the right spot, and then I forget about them. Today there are FIVE of them there! 2 normal-size ones and 3 half-size ones! It’s a ladybird family OMG!! It’s also a mixed-race family! OMG!
