The kind of dog I love — #2 Jumps on your lap

Second Basil comic!

Jumps on your lap

All Basil comics are based on 100% true events so this really did happen.

I was babysitting him and relaxing on the sofa, and he was quite happy to lie beside me.

That is, until I got my Macbook out and placed it on my lap.

He immediately decided that he simply must make himself comfortable on it.

Here’s a photo I took with my Macbook while he was still sitting on it. (Took a bit of doing taking that photo since he was blocking most of the screen and the keyboard.)

I think today’s chapter illustrates how loving Basil is. Most dogs probably are, though. I mean, if you allow them to go on the sofa or hop into bed with you, they will always be there. I find that so endearing.

I love when dogs climb onto me and get comfy because it gives me a warm and tender feeling (except maybe when they’re sitting on the wrong “laptop”). But then they get too comfy and fall asleep and you’re kind of stuck there indefinitely, not having the heart to wake them.

Don’t you love (hate) when that happens?

LOL. Seems Basil has “taken ownership” of all that is Sheylara. What better friend to have taken control, huh?

My cats are notorious lap squatters. In fact, anything that I am doing they cozy up to (on my iPad, on my Keyboard, on a book I’m reading, when I am sleeping). Most times I just let them take ownership of my space. On occasion when I need a little “me” time, I’ll point to the vacuum cleaner and the run for the hills. That seems to be their only weakness.

    I’m loving the comics!

Thanks! :) I know cats do enjoy sleeping on anything and everything, especially things that you need to use NOW. :P But I don’t really see that dogs do it as much, so it was a surprise when Basil jumped onto my laptop! :P

My ex-roomate’s cat will steal my bed space whenever I’m not around (and left my bedroom door open). But when I need my bed I’ll slowly reduce its space and it’ll get out eventually.

    Cats will always be cats!

My sister had a beagle named Lucky that was a cuddle bunny like Basil. He would be everywhere I was when I visited and hop in my lap unannounced and fall asleep.

Cute and sweet, but it made going to the bathroom very hard because he wouldn’t move for anything unless it smelled like bacon.

@Biopolymath: Haha so cute! But why doesn’t the cat steal its owner’s bed instead?

@Pepper: Aww beagles are so cute! :) The first time I ever saw a beagle was at an Australian airport and it was a police sniffer. Fell in love with it at first sight! :D

Soooooo… maybe he stuck to you all the time cos you smelled like bacon! :P j/k. Bacon smells really good, though~!

Beagles are so cute. They are destructive when they are young, but they are always cute.

Hey, I smell like rose pedals and happiness! :P
