I procrastinated writing this post for a week because it’s such a torment looking at my photos and remembering the succulent, delicate taste of the KFC Egg Tart.
Talk about job hazard.
Every time I open up my photos folder to start blogging, I get a major craving. A sweet savoury fragrance teases my senses. My tongue luxuriates on the creamy texture and my taste buds tingle with the delectable freshness of the egg custard.
Seriously! Such a craving it is that my mind starts imagining that the egg tart is there and I’m eating it when it’s not really happening.
Aaaaargh!
Oh, yeah. I’ll bet some of you don’t know yet that KFC now serves Portuguese egg tarts (using the authentic recipe that was developed by the famous Margaret Wong in Macau).
Well, now you know!
Yums!
It’s really good quality egg tart!
The crust is crispy and fluffy. The custard is so smooth and creamy. And the top layer, where the dark spots of caramelised sugar form interesting patterns so that no two egg tarts ever look the same, is so lickable and almost crunchy!
There is just the right amount of sweetness in the custard to complement the buttery flakiness of the crust, filling your mouth with an exquisite burst of flavour!
See how I torment myself!!
Every bite is pure delight!
Now you know why I had to procrastinate this post for so long!
Well, it’s about time I paid a visit to KFC again. It’s one of my favourite places to eat at, actually. (I order delivery quite a lot too. There was one time I ordered twice in a week, OMG.) I love the fried chicken to bits!
I think I will be able to indulge in this awesome new discovery quite often. Heheh.
I so love the golden yellow look of them!
The egg tarts are baked fresh on the spot at KFC restaurants, so you can be sure of getting steaming hot tarts fresh from the oven.
They taste good even after they’ve sat around for a bit and cooled, but they taste even better hot. You gotta try them hot! It’s totally heavenly!
The egg tarts cost $1.30 each or $7.50 a box of six.
Getting the box is a really great idea. Because one is never enough!
Haha. Seriously, the box is designed just in time for Chinese New Year, with red and gold themes.
Perfect for gifting, I think.
If you were going to visit me during CNY, I’d rather you bring me a box of egg tarts than oranges. Haha.
But, erm, if you’re going to visit in-laws or your girlfriend’s/boyfriend’s parents, don’t skip the oranges. Bring them AND a box of these egg tarts to score major points! Hehe.
The sides of the box open up into a cute heart shape! How cool is that!
ISN’T THIS JUST PERFECT FOR A CHINESE NEW YEAR THAT FALLS ON THE SAME DAY AS VALENTINE’S DAY??
Whoever came up with this box design is quite a genius!
Inside the box:
Major droolage!
Nah! Valentine’s New Year present for you!
Heheh.
I have been thinking of getting a box and sharing them with my friends. But now I’m craving it so much I think I’ll probably finish the whole box before they get to my friends!
OMG aaaaaaaaaahh it’s killing me, looking at me so tantalisingly!
Help me!!
Maybe I should get two boxes, instead?
EGGtastic!
Is this a limited time offer or are these egg tarts part of the regular menu?
@Realliveman – LOL.
@abraxis – They’re gonna be a permanent item on the menu! :)
They are finally here in Sinkapore? HURRAY!
Tried them during my trip in Taipei. Yes they are addictive. I wonder will they be as good as the ones I tried in Taipei. But definitely cheaper in Taiwan.
You took your photos in the Harborfront KFC? Your workplace is there?
Monster, can’t believe those tarts are in Spore! i eat them whenever I get KFC in HK. I love them! So so yum! Actually, one of the best that I’ve had even in HK.
@Faith: So they have these in HK KFC too? I thought it is only unique in Taiwan like the KFC pork chop burger. Or that is also available in other countries. :P
Wow, guess I’m going to go to KFC during my next visit to S’pore…
KFC here in the US is boring! No egg tart, no pork chop sandwich and for the most part, not a lot of spicy crispy. Now Popeye’s…spicy with red beans & rice…yum!
waaaa looks nice! gonna get a box after work!!! btw, offtopic here… wat foundation are u using? ur makeup looks nice!!
Why you look like you posing for a product endorsement shot in the pics?? wahahhaha!!!
@tiger4 – Hmm is it cheaper in Taiwan? I just ate them in China and they’re about the same price as Singapore’s after conversion. Well maybe slightly cheaper by cents.
@Faith – Yup yup! I’m going to HK next month!! Maybe try to drop by a KFC! :D And maybe got time to meet you too! :D
@abraxis – I ate KFC in USA once, although that was a long time ago. Gotta say it wasn’t as good as SG’s!
@PamElanessa – I don’t use foundation unless got photoshoot. I mean like fashion photoshoot, not casual camwhore photoshoot. What I do is put Biore sunblock, then use a cream concealer to paint over blemishes, then pat over needed areas with a compact powder VERY LIGHTLY.
I’m using Dior Snow compact in these photos. For foundation, I use Dior Nude.
@FoxTwo – Because it IS a product endorsement? Duh. :P
@Sheylara: I just had these last weekend with my family. Yeah, its exactly as delicious as you described:) So you’re a Dior girl, eh?
I’ve since an advertisement from Taiwan regarding this Egg Tart.
Now we have one here in SG done by our very own Sheylara. :)
@RN1209 – Aww… glad you enjoyed the tarts!! I really need to go get some soon. Bad cravings! :P Haha, wouldn’t call myself a Dior girl. Only use the powder and foundation and nothing else. I use tons of different brands for different things. :P
@5089 – Hi hi! :) Have you tried the tarts? ;)
how come we no have egg tarts in m’sia…. Dammmm…
ohh thanks for the tips!!! =D
@tvbaddict – Because we want you to come to Singapore to eat them. :P
@PamElanessa – You’re welcome!! Oh, I forgot one step! I also use Ettusais Zero Pore Coat to coat over larger pores (usually around the nose area) before I paint over blemishes. It’s a very good product. Unfortunately no longer selling in Singapore so I get them from eBay. :P
icic! noted, lol! have u tried BB cream before? everyone’s raving about it but I got mine from Face Shop but its too fair!
aiyah the point is… pose until so “professional”, lacking the “personal touch” of candid shots of you enjoying the product mah.. :p
@PamElanessa – No, I haven’t tried BB cream yet. Don’t they have darker ones?
@FoxTwo – I did take candid shots but they all turned out ugly :P
Nope! Faceshop only has one shade for the one I bought, it looked ok on my hand but when apply on my face, i look like geisha-wannabe. Ok, maybe not THAT fair, but its obvious that its too fair. Might want to try Beauty Credit but its $60+, abit pricey… and one shade also…
@Pam – Oh, that’s a shame. Actually, I also tried before a few different pore creams but they’re all too light, so in end have to throw away, WASTE MONEY! I like Ettusais one cos it’s colourless so will suit any skin.
But maybe I’ll go give the BB cream a try someday since it’s supposed to be healing also. :P Do they allow testing?
Yup they do, its just me who doesn’t like to test anything on my face, esp if too many pple have touched it before. =P Now I’m just using it lightly as a day moisturizer (cos its supposed to be sunblock + moisturizer + base + foundation) together, and dusting my daily foundation over it, sigh. But it does give a nice healthy glow la…
Heh, at least you can still use it lah, not bad. So many cosmetics I buy and throw cos it just doesn’ work, sigh!
Hahah y??! So wasted!!!
Erm… really CMI mah. MAkeup is supposed to beautify, not uglify. If it uglifies, then throw lor. Also throw a lot of skincare cos they make my skin worse.
Yeah, I cannot use SKII, no matter how good they say it is. It just makes my skin break out! And I heard Bodyshop’s Vitamin C capsules are supposed to give me nice glowy skin in 28 days, but so far it just makes my skin oily, lol!
sell at ebay… :P
@Pam – Oh no! So you also throw your SKII? I’ve been wanting to buy but never dare too cos it’s too expensive to throw! :P
@tvbaddict – Siao lah!! Who wanna buy used cosmetics!!
argh, now i have a fantastic craving for it…
Me too. :(
I didn’t throw, gave my mum. Works for her. =D But too expensive to keep buying. Now she uses Skinfood but I don’t really see any effects.
Ya la TVB, u think like dvds, watch le can sell on ebay ah? =P
@Pam – Oh, that’s pretty lucky, then! I like using Skinfood masks cos they smell nice! :)
Yup!! I want to try Beauty Diary’s masks!! They look so good!! In fact, I heard their BB cream isn’t too ba either… oh no, I have a feeling I’m gonna go retail therapy again… =P
Monster, when are you popping over? I’ll be home for CNY though and will be back on the 22nd but will be in Spore on the 25th of Mar again.
@Pam – Haha… retail therapy is never enough!
@Faith – I’ll email you!
@Sheylara: Just bought 2 boxes and pass to my wife at her workplace. They all say sedup
Didn’t you keep any for yourself?????????
@Sheylara: No. I am no diet. MUHAHAHAHA
Doh!
Wow! You sure made the Egg Tarts look more delectable than ever. Love your post!
@Supermodel – Hehe, thanks for the compliment! :) Hope you enjoy the egg tarts when you do try them! ;)
i’m so heading down to harbourfront to grab these egg tarts!
my stomach is commanding me so.
@KenshinZ – ahahaha. how our stomach commands us! :P
huh… the kfc at bt plaza dont have leh . +( boo
Sorry I just found this website. I tried these custard tarts for the first time and they are incredible!!! They are pure heaven. Better than almost any single food item I’ve ever eaten. I am in Taiwan now and I am eating 2-3 per day! haha
