Fashion Diary #15: Candy Rock

Day 15

Name of outfit: Candy Rock

Self-Rating:

Destination: Playing Guitar Hero III at home

Notes: The Goonfather just bought Guitar Hero III (for the PS3) so I wanted to take some photos of us playing the game. For that, I decided to emulate one of the avatars in the game, a kawaii Japanese guitarist wearing a jacket, mini skirt, platform shoes and knee socks. She even carries a tiny haversack on stage!

I don’t have an outfit exactly like that, so I did the best I could. You’ve seen these clothes before, so today I’m focusing on accessories. I used hairclips on my socks to make them look less plain. I tied shoelaces on my arm and wrist for want of better alternatives to complete the outfit. I love mis-using accessories!

I’ll talk about Guitar Hero III tomorrow and you can check out the kawaii Japanese chick. It’s a fun game and the Goonfather is totally addicted to it!

Fashion Diary #14: Punk School

Day 14

Name of outfit: Punk School

Self-Rating:

Destination: Meeting with director and co-actor

Notes: My previous outfit wasn’t too well-received, so I dug out something a bit less radical today for a change. I don’t wear this top very often because I don’t usually like green or checks. I think I bought it only because it looks kinda nice with that black tie.

I wish I had a pair of black sneakers to go with it, but I don’t. It’s so hard to mix and match outfits when you don’t have enough things to match everything!

You probably realise that I have many tops but I keep reusing my bottoms. I hate buying bottoms because they’re a pain to try on and because it’s so hard to find ones that flatter my flat butt. Shopping can be a very traumatic experience for flat people.

Fashion Diary #13: Truth Candy

Day 13

Name of outfit: Truth Candy

Self-Rating:

Destination: A day out (lunch and movie at VivoCity, catch an evening play, hang out at friend’s place)

Notes: I was in a particular mood to dress up yesterday but I was so sick of wearing my favourite outfits over and over again. So I pulled out this old top/dress thingy I bought so long ago I can’t remember when.

I didn’t like it after I bought it so I’ve never actually worn it out before. (I have tons of these “shopping rejects”.)

I guess I found that it didn’t look too bad paired with my assorted black and white things. It’s not an outfit I feel extremely comfortable in — I feel weird in leggings — but it’s different, so that works for me.

Fashion Diary #12: High Tea

Day 12

Name of outfit: High Tea

Self-Rating:

Destination: Photoshoot by Justyn Olby

Notes: I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m kinda running out of clothes. Hahaha. I mean, I still have a lot of clothes lah, but I don’t really like them that much. I used to wear this top a lot when my favourite colour was blue. But now I don’t really like it anymore.

It’s kinda weird how, after wearing a piece of clothing for some time, “favourite” becomes “yuck”. This is something I’ve been trying to figure out for ages but can’t really get a handle on.

That’s why, nowadays, I like to buy very cheap clothes so I can wear it for a while, get sick of it, and throw it away or use it as a rag or something.

I bought this top for like S$7 a year ago and have worn it everywhere, for every ocassion, from work to shopping to formal dinners to disco parties. You can’t quite tell from the photo but it’s actually a striped top (blue and white) and it’s about time it got retired.

Fashion Diary #11: Sally Dally

Day 11

Name of outfit: Sally Dally

Self-Rating:

Destination: Photoshoot by Justyn Olby

Notes: This is another photoshoot outfit. It’s kinda blah because the previous two outfits were rather full-on, so this is for variation. It’s perfect for the crazy hot weather these days and I think it’s great for picnics and BBQs.

But I think it makes me look rather blah and I don’t feel very me in this for some strange reason. Maybe it’s the funky disappearing back.
