Red and white

Happy National Day, Singapore!

To commerate this day, I’m wearing red and white!

Red.

And white.

Haha.

It’s still red and white, wat! =)

I love Singapore, even though there are stupid rules and too much censorship.

What about you?

How do your lashes always stay so nicely curled?! I can curl until I think they going to drop off liao but they straighten by mid day. =____=

I didn’t even wear any red or any white. lol

Happy National Day! Hmm…. what do you mean *Too Many Rules*? Are they really extreme?

Kev wrote a comment on Thu, 9 August 2007

heya! no one is perfect, and equally no country or government or system is perfect. ‘Perfectness’ is very situation-based… and the world around us is dynamic, so yup, even though there are flaws in Singapore, it is a flaw(s) that has bring us from slums to high rise skyline… And being living overseas for almost half a year has certainly make me proud to say that Singapore is my home. =)

Minou: The trick is to find the right mascara. I have literally thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of mascara before finding one that keeps the curls going. Unfortunately, only particular models of particular brands work.

Like, I used to use one particular range of Maybellline, and then they discontinued that model and I discovered that other Maybelline mascaras didn’t work, not even those that claim to auto-curl your lashes without using a curler. So it was back to square one, trying all kinds of brands again to find another right one.

Anyway, I’m using Fasio now. I don’t know if they will work for you, but they work for me. They recently discontinued my favourite one (orange tube) so now I’ve switched to the white/silver tube one, which is not as good as the orange one but still works. I hate when cosmetic companies discontinue my favourite products and the replacements suck. They just keep doing that!

nadnut: Heh… very nice too! Love your outfit! ;)

Jason: Yeah, yeah, same here. I also complain a lot but I don’t really want to live anywhere else, lol.

amd: Yup. Every time after coming home from overseas, I always feel so at home and warm and safe.

modchip: You mean you haven’t heard of Singapore’s crazy rules? The most famous “crazy rule”, I think, is that chewing gum is banned here.

Kev: Yeah, I agree. That’s why I love Singapore despite sometimes being driven crazy by its laws. I like many other things about Singapore and am willing to put up with the bad to enjoy the good.

modchip wrote a comment on Fri, 10 August 2007

Wahhhhhhh… chewing gum is banned!!! That’s crazy! Why is it banned?

misha wrote a comment on Fri, 10 August 2007

misha loves singapore bcos got safari .. got .. sentosa island .. got nice nice zoo .. got many places to shop .. hahahaha

Minou wrote a comment on Fri, 10 August 2007

Yes, cosmetics companies are evil, always forcing you to try new products. Why aren’t all the nice Japanese brands available in Singapore?!?!
Anyway, I gave up curling sometime back and permed my eye lashes. But they are starting to straighten now…back to curling…lol

I love Singapore too… it’s not perfect but I love it. :) Did you see the video Hossan Leong made on Singapore? Check it out at my blog. :)

Btw I love your eyelashes too. very pretty :)

Bobo wrote a comment on Fri, 10 August 2007

oh yes and I’ve linked to your blog. cannot resist it :)

Monster wrote a comment on Fri, 10 August 2007

Mascara, the best I found is from Benefit. Not sure if it’s available in Spore. And the other one is the one in red tube from Sasa, think is fiber wig or something like that….

And I’ve a love, hate relationship with Spore….And it’s a point that I’m not sure if I’m ready to go back to live in Spore now….maybe give me another year or 2….

PRETTY! :D I saw u at nuffnang event today, i dont think u notice me though. But you are pretty!

modchip: Haha. Yeah, but I think Singaporeans are used to the rule by now. Chewing gum was banned because people would spit them everywhere and gum would get stuck to public propery. And, like, chewing gum stuck on the ground is impossible to remove after a while. So I think they banned it to make Singapore cleaner and greener? lol.

misha: Haha, you know what? For me, Hong Kong and Malaysia are my favourite places to shop!

Minou: Ah… does perming lashes really work? How long does it last? Is the effect as nice as using a curler?

Starstruck: Thank you for the compliments. *blush* My favourite Singapore song is Five Stars Arising, or whatever the title is. I didn’t join in any festivities on National Day. I don’t really like squeezing in crowds, so after the Nuffnang event, I rushed home to escape the crowd. Heh.

chak: Huh? Draw stars in my eyes? No lah, siao, why would I do that? I didn’t notice until you pointed out, haha, do you mean the second (white) picture, got like lines coming out from the middle? Looks pretty weird, though. No idea what reflection that is! lol.

Bobo: Thanks for your compliments and for supporting my blog! :) I haven’t seen the Hossan Leong video. Will check it out when I have time. And will link back your blog too when I have time. I was out filming all day today, left home at 9am, only got home at 2am. Heh.

Monster: Never heard of Benefit. Will try that when Fasio decide to play me out and discontinue the current product I’m using. :P Well, as long as you’re happy where you are, I’m happy for you!

crazyhamster: Aww, thanks :) You should have come say hi to me, then I would have noticed you! ;)

“I love Singapore, even though there are stupid rules and too much censorship.”

At least, they did not censor you, beautiful babe.
Most rules are set to make people stupid. Smart people break the rule.

bigmac wrote a comment on Sat, 11 August 2007

You wearing red and white ? You making yourself a big hongbao !

bigmac wrote a comment on Sat, 11 August 2007

The irony that I love Singapore is because it is the greatest joke on earth.
Joke such as:
‘the higher the pay, the higher the moral authority’, minister’s pay as good as corruptionMoney, conflict of interest acceptable in legistrative, GLC, partisan (Isn’t that sound like funny word too), GRC walkover (or walkOverMyDeadBody), gangster-In-WhiteSuite (TheyComeWhitelyInGangsDuringElection), approved and biased union leader (Why the heck we need them for ?), expensive prata-making president (yet to taste his prata to justify his $3.1 millions salary), increase GST to help the poor (the poor is really the ministers !), setting up committee for whatever shit popup, political actors and actress, etc…

Indeed, with so much happening, Singapore is such a vibrant city. When I read ST, I thought I reading joke articles.

bigmac wrote a comment on Sat, 11 August 2007

Indeed, all the things that I mentioned make Singapore all the more extraordinary. I fully agree with LKY that we have an extraordinary gov. What’s more can we ask for ?

So why’s not appreciate the Singapore’s way of life ?

Minou wrote a comment on Sat, 11 August 2007

Perming lasts about 2 months for me…the results for me is very natural. But the amount I’m charged is also higher than some other shops….
And also need to choose the person perming your lashes carefully, I’ve seen friends with too overly curly lashes! ;p

Benefit juz opened a counter in Tangs. Prices are crazy! It’s cheaper to buy from States online. >___>

bigmac: But there’s nothing to censor about me! Haha. Anyway, red and white is not hongbao. It must be red and gold! ;) Well, I can see how the news can be a big “joke”. But it’s the kinda joke that makes you “laugh until you cry”, sorta. Because you eventually realise that while it’s a joke, the jokes on you. :P Well, whatever it is, I still love Singapore. And I do appreciate the government for some really good things they’ve done for the country.

Minou: Ok, now I think perming is quite risky. Maybe if I feel like perming mine in the future, I’ll get you to recommend your “permer”. ;)

The Goonfather: Eh? What’s that all about?

modchip wrote a comment on Sun, 12 August 2007

Hmmm… if wrigleys (one of the most famous gum producers here) operated there, they would go out of business.. haha.

Mince Pye wrote a comment on Mon, 13 August 2007

We used to have Wriggly’s here. Spearmint, Doublemint, Banana-flavored…

You could go to any corner mamashop to get your chewing fix.

But, ever since chewing gum started causing millions of dollars in annual maintenance for subways around the world, they banned it here.

Now, the only thing that can stop our MRT trains are people jumping…

Qiaoyun wrote a comment on Mon, 13 August 2007

Which is infinitely worse than chewing gum getting stuck in train tracks.
