Something wrong with this ad

Saw this ad over the weekend.

For starters, there can be only ONE first person to own this phone.

So, this ad is saying that only the first person to buy the phone could win a prize.

Which means that it’s a lucky draw involving only one person.

And that one person might not even win it because he only “stands a chance”, no guarantee.

Poor sod.

The key word is “stand”. I admit its a poor choice of words, but it changes the entire statement to “you have a only a chance of winning”
